February 09, 2008: AFP reporting that group of LRA killed 100+ people in South Sudan attack this week
in: General
by: Peter
AFP is reporting that a group LRA rebels are being accused of killing "dozens of people" and looting property during an attack earlier this week. "On February 4, the LRA killed 136 people in areas in and around Kajo-Keji and looted their property," Michael Kuel, a Sudanese military intelligence officer said. "When the SPLM arrived there, these fighters fled. We are still pursuing them," Kuel added. Whether or not this group of rebels is operating in connection with the LRA high command will not be known for some time. Regardless, this does not bode well for the peace talks that are already plagued by mistrust. We'll be following this story closely as more information is released.
February 03, 2008: Allegations of LRA attack/raids in southern Sudan could distract peace talks
in: General

First reported by The Sudan Tribune and now The New Vision, several fresh attacks in southern Sudan are being attributed to a group of LRA rebels on the move. The Commissioner of Kajokeji County of Central Equatoria State has accused the rebels of killing four people and wounding another four. Meanwhile, security sources said the rebels also over-ran an SPLA detachment, stealing four guns. These could be isolated incidents, but they risk distracting the peace talks that resumed last week in Juba.
